She related our relationships to ATM machines.  We can't expect to take money out or make withdrawals, unless we make deposits.  During our busy lives it can be very hard to make the time, but even in small windows, we can make valuable and effective deposits into our relationships. What do you need to be doing better?  Picture the center of the sun with it's rays extending outward.  You are the center and everything that depends on you or involves you are the rays.  This includes work, friends, kids, family, etc...If you are not strong and healthy in the center then the connections can't be strong and healhty either. I am not an expert on safety, but thought that there were some excellent safety tips for women.  If you have more ideas to share, please post!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We can now add to the list of victims the retired 77 yr. old TCU professor from Ft Worth whose body was found last week in Oklahoma--and the 11 yr. old in Sarasota, FL. Because of these recent abductions in daylight hours, refresh yourself of these things to do in an emergency situation...This is for you, and for you to share with your wife, your children, everyone you know. After reading these 9 crucial tips , forward them to someone you care about. It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.&lt;br /&gt;1 . Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!&lt;br /&gt;2. Learned this from a tourist guide in New Orleans. If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM . Toss it away from you....chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!&lt;br /&gt;3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.&lt;br /&gt;4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON'T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE. a. If someone is in the car with a gun to your head DO NOT DRIVE OFF, repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF! Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it. As soon as the car crashes bail out and run. It is better than having them find your body in a remote location. 5 . A few notes about getting into your car in a park ing lot, or parking garage: A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars. C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!) 7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, Preferably ! in a zig -zag pattern! 8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP . It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.&lt;br /&gt;************* Here it is *******&lt;br /&gt;9. Another Safety Point: Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her "Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, "We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night. Next, ask yourself...what are things that I can do that really help me take care of myself and feel good?  exercise? laugh? yoga? watch a movie? read a book? Get the idea?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, given the time you have, pick which self care activities you'd like to incorporate in your day.  Need more time?  Is there something you can rearrage to make this work? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Good luck! This blog is a follow up to last Monday.  I know it can be impossible sometimes.  I know I realized this week how important it is for me to try and exercise on a regular basis.  When I'm not, I feel different, and usually more stressed out.  But sometimes it can feel impossible to make the time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;How are you doing with your committment to yourself? Time with your significant other.  This is a common problem I often hear about from my friends and clients.  It's not always easy to make time for one another and especially the only time that is often left one or both of you is usually exhausted.  So, here are a few ideas to make more time for one another.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1) Take a look at your calendars on Saturday or Sunday before the new week begins.  Decide how much quality time you want to spend with each other and write it down in your planners.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2) Think out of the box.  Is it possible to meet each other for lunch during the week?  What is something you've always wanted to try but haven't made time?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3) Set up a babysitter at least 1 time a month.  Maybe think about taking turns with a friend.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4) Keep your promises to one another.  If you set up time to be together, make sure nothing gets in your way. Lately, I've tried 2 things that have really helped!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1)The mail pile.  I always put bills and items that need to be responded to in an important spot, but the rest of the kind of important to junk stuff tends to pile up.  My solution?  Spend 10 minutes each night going through the mail and putting it in its right spot...trash can or elsewhere.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2)The other tip, came from a friend of mine.  When we hesitate to put things away, ask yourself, How many times do I want to touch this?  Probably only one time. One thing she talked about is that mothers start to put everyone else first until there is no time or energy left to take care of themselves.  The challenge Oprah made and I agree with, is that we as women need to take care of ourselves first.  This doesn't mean abandoning our children or families and being bad parents.  It means putting on our oxygen mask first, so we then can be the best parent possible.  As a working super mom, its very hard not to let part of ourselves go at times.  But, it is crucial to our own happiness, sanity, and well being that we strive to take care of ourself in every sense of the word. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Take a minute to think about where you could take care of yourself a little better and commit to doing something right now. Instead of spending hours each night cleaning your home, pick a reasonable amount of time you have to clean.  Maybe its only 20 minutes.  Then, decide the most important room to attack.  Next, get to work, but really try to stick to your 20 minutes! Feeling and being centered can mean different things to different people.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;One idea that I've been thinking about is trying to be present in the moment that I am in.  That means I'm not worrying about the things I need to do in the next hour, the next day, or the next year.  But, to get to this state of being present in the moment takes a lot of work.
